This is a consolidation thread for BETA preparation. DO NOT do /beta until you've read through this and have a basic understanding of the process. Running BETA is having a completely separate installation of EQ on your hard drive. Once your character is copied to the BETA server it is a unique and separate entity from your main character on Luclin. This means your BETA character can spend Plat like a drunken sailor and it's like free money because it has zero impact on your "real" plat back on Luclin!

If you follow DBG's BETA instructions you will find every bit of character customization missing! (UI, filters, colors, trigger, etc.) These instructions that follow will allow you to KEEP all your customization if you do it right!

Step 1 is to read this short thread on the DBG Forum since it covers important considerations BEFORE you do your BETA setup! To me it's really nice having guild hall anchors on BETA!

Step 2 would be to make sure your computer is cleaned up and has all the Windows patches/updates done. If your computer is having problems then you'll probably have problems getting BETA done. For example, your BETA folder will take up another 10GB of space! That may not be trivial if your smaller SSD is nearly full!

Step 3 will be to follow the instructions from an older post by a former member that really covers the mechanics of creating your BETA folder and getting your settings copied over successfully. Here is Khatt's post. USE the first option in these directions if you want to SAVE all your settings and customizations!

Step 4 is to follow my reply post on Khatt's post for making sure that your BETA character has been added to your GINA configuration so that all your GINA triggers will be available!

If you install a version of TeamViewer software (free for personal use!) I can help people with the BETA folder creation when the time comes! This would involve giving me remote control capabilities on your computer so hide all your pr0n before scheduling my assistance!

On beta server, we will likely have free access to all the raid loot to wear on our beta characters and we can be granted all of our class AAs to nearly max out our total AAs. This deserves a bit of conversation among guild officers and class leaders, in my opinion. If we are all fully geared and fully AAed, it may set unrealistic expectations of the guild as a whole on how we help shape the events we are chosen to assist with. The events when they go live may be too difficult for us to do as we are geared on live, so maybe we should think about that.

It is also possible to create a new character from scratch and immediately boost it to max level and most AAs and gear it up with the newest raid and group gear. This is nice if you box other classes and want to check out the new gear and AAs for the class and how they work in new content.

We will /beta our own characters ONE TIME on live once beta is set up. PLEASE DO NOT CREATE BETA TOONS TO RAID WITH.

This will help avoid a DKP correction nightmare. The sever isn't available yet but it should be very soon, we will keep checking and keep you posted.

Once we're in, we will create Inverse logic and we make everyone an officer so anyone can invite. All the gear is free on the merchants, but usually the dev gives us the beta fish to gear up and beta buffs us. Hailing the erudite (name) in pok grants your AAs. Please set that up ahead of time.

Normal chat channels are usually not functional on beta, please make some fellowships.

Please make sure to scrub cross-server autojoin channels, and refrain from joining those channels until open beta starts. If you need help with that please ask. Autojoin cross-server channels are the most likely to accidentally announce your presence. Obviously, don't do cross-server tells either.

Sometimes they do work, Zun but mostly they don't. Serverwide channels and planes are auto-joined on beta, I create a hotkey to leave them.

Any channels we try to create are usually down most of the time and therefore very unreliable. There tends to be a lot more /gu and /rs chatter as a result.

We can designate OOC, auction, and shout for use as class channels if we need to as well.

I would not advise on dev raids to use any of those channels zunn. Devs have asked in previous years to keep stuff out of any channels that can spam them. On non dev raids if channels are down it's fine, just not during a dev raid

In the past we have not lvl'd, but absor usually lvls everyone to max when we raid so it is a moot pt.

eqmaps.info already has ToV maps available. I just put them inside my beta brewall folder.



Old Man Thorren sells a lot of very good stuff...

He has all of the spell bound rings, so everyone can get free Rk 3 spells

He has an item called "Beta Fish of ToV Group TS" which has the best group slots available. Even if you have full raid armor, check it for the augs. Velium infused gem of vigor for example is 770 hp. There are augs in the other fish too that are exceptional and can be mixed with the others.

You can use the fish items to max out your personal tribute (LQD already maxed guild tribute). Robe was worth 24k

He has unlimited free rez tokens, gate potions, etc

He has a free house and free trophies.

He sells anchors and the transport device

Click your journeyman compass



Click are you armor slots for your perma buffs, but please click them off. The one that looks like C doesn't do anything but make me think you are rebuffed.



Your shared bank doesn't copy. If you haven't /beta yet, you can put all your shared bank coin on your character before /beta, then put it back in your shared bank when you are done.
