I don't know anyone in the United States without FIOS (or some other Fiber) that has an upload over 2MB or so.
Myself I have 30MB down and 0.98MB Upload.
US ISPs suck.

Do you pay extra for it?

So what exactly does upload speed do for you? Like if I could pay extra for higher upload what does that do? I did pay a little extra for higher download speed but I'm not sure higher upload was even offered.

Its Great for uploading photo's or programs to sites that let you do this, and for cloud computing as well as needed for Online Games. but most sites restrict you to less then 1mbs upload anyhow so its not real important, If you can get at least 1.0 mbs upload i would acquire it though.
I can get up to a 30mbs download 4 mbs upload with the ISP i am on. I just pay for the basic they offer, my Service is on a WISP (wireless internet service provider). they have towers all over the North East side of oklahoma city these towers are fiber optic connected to a main hub.
Ergon i think gallowmans cable is fiber optic from hub as well just cable to the home.

Ya i pay about $5 more a month for the extra upload speed
and no mine is not fiberoptic to hub...they still havn't finished hooking that up here....some kind of contract thing with the local tv channels has put the fiber optics on hold. I will defeniatly be buying that when they get it set up tho. The net is cheaper and faster with that company.
