Lag and logs

Problem: Ran into a problem last night where game made it hard to move, target, cast spells, etc.
Solution: It looks like stopping EQ logging (from within the game "/log off"), renaming/deleting the log file (found in Everquest/logs and called something like eqlog_Wrensong_luclin), and then restarting logs so that GINA will work (within the game "/log on").
Notes:
The problem could be reproduced in guild hall by running forward and backwards. When logs went to the broken file, movement would freeze and targeting was delayed. No problems with a new log file.
The broken file is not particularly large.
Observe some internet delays earlier.
In order to delete/rename log file, stop logging, turn off GINA, and close down game parse type tools.
No luck finding a specific piece of the file causing the problem yet.
Hopefully this information helps someone.

Log files lag based off size, reporting totals, and computer limitations.
If you keep log files under 100 megs, think at least once a week destroying it, you should be good.
If still having problems limit your report data, and consider hiding that text window from displaying.
If you aren't using a modern processor, ssd and 16 gigs of ram that could be an issue depending on your background processes

in the Gina settings there is a Log management tab , you can have your logs auto archive , every saturday. that way you dont have log lag again by keeping the active log file small.

So I was bored at work and trying to find some improvements to boxing and logging on multiple screens at the same time and came to this page. Most of this is common sense, yet there is a bullet in there I wasn't aware of. The Texture.txt file might be worth while to look at. I will put it in my file monitoring to see if it is perhaps a culprit with the multi boxing causing lagging on some of the TBL content. More here as I find more info.
Also to note if you see set affinity references be aware most of our computers use Virtualized cores. This means odd cores are logical and even are physical (set affinity 0,1). If you are running two instances with 0,1 they are sharing the same core for cpu registers.
ANOTHER one that could be an issue is Antivirus / Antilmalware, HIPS/HIDS software. Check that you have put the everquest directory in the exemption list. This can help alot in zoning as well.
To Note I am lagging with 3 instances of eq on:
i9 9900k 32 gb ram 1tb m.2 with an ati 580 (yeah this sucks but not relelvant much to eq lag).

I have had luck fixing most of the lag issues with making exceptions for eqgame.exe , Gina.exe, and gamprse.exe, in windows defender, worked for everyone who has tried it. you may also have to disable superfetch if it is active on your computer

That's great info. It's unfortunate some misinformation spread like wildfire when SSDs caught on, so a lot of people try to help out by saying to disable it but most should not. (SSDs are still many times slower than RAM too.)
Here's an example, right now, of Superfetch for me:
In discussion about a player on the server, I looked up all of my dealings with them since March. The first search through my archives (which are on a HDD) with GINA took a fairly decent chunk of time. Then I did another search from another character's perspective, and that search took less than three minutes because Windows loaded all of those hundreds of megabytes of logs into RAM in the background. They weren't the same files, but they were stored in the same place, and so Windows proactively read them all into RAM.

So lets revist this because I cant come up with a constant fix other than turning off almost all other activities on occasion.
Problem: After a zone death and return frame rate and game lag markedly stops.
Background: I have an I9 32 Gig ram with a 2080RTX with individual AIOs on each. Core temp 96F, 84F respective. I have an M.2 for Eq and Evo980 for OS. I have exempted EQ, and GINA from my AV, which is Eset if you care, mostly lightweight. I run eq at 2k Resolution, in windowed mode to see overlays from Gina.
So frame rate differential is a mark of 60+FPS to 9FPS, IO is negligible, I saw 290 KPS max bandwidth consumption and 34 ms latency. Removing all other logging from the game netted me 24 fps but still responsive lag was awful. I dropped clip to 0 and got to 33fps. Better but targeting was an issue.
Ideas? I have tried everything listed above and it doesnt' seem to effect. I really only get this at the General event and GMM1. I'd have to say it must be all the players and pets in close proximity but even that doesn't really hold weight. I have been running rage2 on4k and ultra settings and never drop or frame below 59.

Odd, my computer is strong but not that strong and I do not have such a severe issue. Antivirus was the cause for me.
You don't have a minimized spam window do you? I'm not sure if they fixed that, but spam in minimized tabs/windows caused massive lag before, meaning a spam window that is just made very small is/was better as of a couple months ago.

I can try that
