Putting IL to work! (Computer Hunting)

Hey guys,

Long story short, friend of mine is looking to upgrade his computer on the cheap. Ideally $300, can go up to 350 if it's worth it. Uses it mostly for internet, word processing, and Starcraft 2. He is looking to save by not getting any peripherals (speakers, monitor, etc) - just the best tower/computer with the low amount of money he has available.

I looked around on some deal websites, newegg, lenovo outlet, etc., but I honestly don't know enough about computer components to give him sound advice. Neither he or I trust ourselves to build a computer from scratch.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Thanks Ron, he's gonna upgrade and I think I may look I to a new comp... Quick question though, is it a no no to have different sticks of RAM at different speeds? The comp he wants has DDR3 1333 ram in it, and a friend of ours has some DDR3 1600 lying around...

Thanks in advance!

Yeah that is a No No, i would not even use different brands of memory in todays time, but heck RAM is dirt cheap now for super duper name brand stuff (its about the only thing that is cheap)
